Job Description
Nucor (River Metals Recycling LLC) is seeking a Mechanic in Ashland, KY. In this role, you will maintain, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on heavy industrial mobile equipment to keep facility operations running safely and efficiently. The top candidates will possess strong troubleshooting skills for machinery and hydraulic systems, have the ability to read technical manual diagrams, and be physically able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Compensation & Key Benefits
- Earnings & Pay: $70,000+ average annual earnings with weekly pay, including base pay, overtime opportunities, production bonuses, and profit sharing.

Job Responsibilities
Key Job Duties
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, and repair/replace broken parts, including engine hydraulic lines, O-rings, and filters using hand/power tools, lift trucks, and cranes.
- Machinery Operations & Assembly: Move, assemble, dismantle, and safely operate industrial machinery as needed.
- Safety & Documentation: Uphold rigorous safety procedures, maintain a clean work space, keep accurate repair logs, and work directly with software support to resolve transaction accounting system issues.

Qualifications
Job Requirements
- Technical Skills & Experience: Ability to read technical manuals/diagrams and troubleshoot root causes of machinery failure; manufacturing background is preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work including pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Work Environment & Availability: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, work effectively in a fast-paced team, and take overtime with little to no notice.
