    Location: Rockford, IL
    Job Type: Full-Time
    Shift: 3rd Shift (15% Shift Premium)
    Pay: $27.55–$28.97 per hour
    Experience Level: Experienced
    Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

    Position Summary

    We are seeking an experienced Operator Mechanic to join our manufacturing team on 3rd shift. This position is responsible for machine operation, die setting, equipment setup, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, prior manufacturing experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Die Setting & Equipment Setup

    • Install, adjust, and maintain fabrication equipment.
    • Set up production machinery for efficient and accurate operation.
    • Recommend process improvements and tooling enhancements.
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings and tooling documentation.

    Machine Operation

    • Operate assigned production equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Perform quality inspections and maintain production counts.
    • Clear machine jams and perform routine servicing.
    • Diagnose and correct minor tooling or machine issues.

    Preventive Maintenance

    • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment.
    • Maintain tools and equipment in clean, safe operating condition.
    • Record maintenance activities and inspection findings.
    • Coordinate repair needs with maintenance and tooling personnel.

    Troubleshooting

    • Identify and resolve production, quality, and equipment issues.
    • Make machine adjustments to maintain product quality and production standards.
    • Respond proactively to production deviations and equipment performance concerns.

    Housekeeping

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
    • Properly store tools, equipment, and materials.
    • Assist with inventory control and general housekeeping duties.

    Safety

    • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
    • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and hazards immediately.
    • Promote a safe and productive workplace.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Perform other duties as assigned by production leadership.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous manufacturing experience.
    • Experience operating production machinery.
    • Basic mechanical maintenance skills.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with blanking, draw/body-making, or similar fabrication equipment.
    • Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery.
    • Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints.
    • Experience using precision measuring tools and gauges while working to tight tolerances.
