Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to join a manufacturing and fabrication operation in Tulsa. This position is responsible for preparing and coating metal surfaces using industrial painting equipment and techniques while maintaining high standards for finish quality, coverage, and safety.
The ideal candidate has previous industrial painting experience and is comfortable operating both airless and conventional spray systems. Candidates should understand proper surface preparation, coating application, equipment maintenance, and inspection procedures.
This position offers a consistent four-day MondayThursday schedule with opportunities for overtime.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous industrial painting experience preferred
Experience with airless spray systems
Experience with conventional spray systems
Knowledge of industrial surface preparation methods
Ability to apply primers, paints, and protective coatings
Ability to accurately read a tape measure
Ability to follow work instructions and coating requirements
Strong attention to detail and finish quality
Ability to safely operate industrial painting equipment
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
Strong commitment to workplace and paint safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare metal surfaces before coating application
Sand and grind surfaces as required
Clean metal products to remove contaminants
Mask components and areas that should not receive coating
Apply primers to prepared metal surfaces
Apply industrial paints and protective coatings
Operate airless spray-painting equipment
Operate conventional spray systems
Maintain proper coating coverage and consistency
Inspect completed products for finish quality
Identify thin coverage, missed areas, runs, or other visible defects
Complete touch-up work when necessary
Maintain painting equipment and related tools
Keep paint areas clean and organized
Follow all company safety and PPE requirements
Assist with additional shop and production duties as assigned
Surface Preparation Responsibilities
Proper preparation is critical to producing a quality industrial finish.
Candidates may perform:
Sanding
Grinding
Cleaning
Masking
Surface inspection
Contaminant removal
Material preparation
Final preparation before primer or coating application
Surfaces must be properly prepared before painting to help ensure consistent adhesion, coverage, and finished-product quality.
Industrial Painting Responsibilities
Candidates should be comfortable with:
Airless spray equipment

Industrial primers
Paints and finish coatings
Protective coatings
Spray guns
Related painting tools and equipment
Responsibilities include applying coatings according to work instructions and maintaining consistent coverage across fabricated metal products.
Quality & Inspection Responsibilities
Inspect surfaces before painting
Verify proper preparation has been completed
Monitor coating coverage during application
Inspect completed products for consistent finish
Identify missed areas or insufficient coverage
Identify runs, defects, or other finish concerns
Complete touch-up work as required
Maintain attention to detail throughout production
Help ensure completed products meet applicable quality standards
Paint Equipment Maintenance
Maintain spray guns and related equipment
Keep painting equipment clean and ready for use
Identify equipment concerns before they affect production
Maintain organized paint and tool areas
Follow applicable procedures for handling paints and coatings
Maintain clean and safe work areas
Preferred Qualifications
Industrial Painter experience
Manufacturing painting experience
Metal fabrication painting experience
Airless spray experience
Conventional spray experience
Industrial coating experience
Surface preparation experience
Grinding and sanding experience
Experience painting fabricated steel or metal components
Previous work in an industrial paint booth environment
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout a 10-hour shift
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Manual dexterity required for spray-painting equipment and preparation tools
Ability to safely handle fabricated metal products
Comfortable performing repetitive and physically active painting work
Ability to safely work around paints, coatings, industrial equipment, and fabricated materials
Ability to wear all required PPE
