What a day looks like

You start by reviewing blueprints and planning the most efficient path for mechanical piping runs across our industrial operations. From there, you move to the floor to lay out, cut, and fabricate piping, set valves and regulators, and keep our high-pressure and steam systems operating safely and reliably.

Core impact

  • Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair mechanical piping systems across the facility.
  • Analyze blueprints to determine pipe types, routing, and the most efficient installation methods.
  • Lay out, cut, and fabricate systems of pipes, valves, traps, regulators, and related components from prints or verbal instructions.
  • Maintain and repair all types of valves, regulators, and traps.
  • Service and maintain high-pressure hydraulic systems, boilers, associated piping and accessories, steam-jacketed pressure vessels, sewage plant and clarifier, and linseed/hydraulic oil separators.
  • Evaluate whether components should be salvaged or scrapped when removed for repair or replacement.
  • Collaborate with and assist other crafts as needed.

Tools you’ll put to work

  • Craftsman hand tools (hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, chisels, levels, etc.)
  • Transportation vehicles for moving materials and equipment
  • Overhead crane
  • Oil cans and grease guns

Where you’ll work

  • At heights and/or in confined spaces when required.
  • Independently with minimal supervision or alongside other maintenance crafts.
  • Throughout plant areas that may be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy depending on location.

What you bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a skills assessment.
  • Ability to work shifts and rotating schedules; available for daily and weekend overtime and call-outs to minimize downtime, perform preventive maintenance, and support root cause analysis.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing and/or heavy industrial experience in a skilled trade.
