A day in this role

Start your shift with a safety huddle, scan the mine site for changing conditions, and line out your preventative maintenance plan. By mid-morning, you’re servicing motors, generators, transformers, and switchgear—verifying protections, tightening terminations, and replacing worn components. After lunch, a production line calls: you diagnose a 480 VAC three-phase motor control fault, isolate the cause, and return the system to service. You wrap the day by testing panels, documenting work performed, and updating maintenance logs for the next team.

Core responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, installation, and repair across power and lighting systems, including motors, generators, transformers, timing devices, switches, cabling, and conduit.
• Apply electrical theory to evaluate the operation of machinery, control circuits, and related equipment; verify proper function with meters and diagnostic tools.
• Work confidently on 480 VAC, three-phase motor control systems and related components.
• Test and validate motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, and generator windings.
• Troubleshoot to the root cause, dismantle and reassemble equipment, and correct deficiencies.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities to eliminate failures and extend asset life.
• Use appropriate hand tools and electronic diagnostic instruments to inspect, test, and repair equipment.
• Keep the work area clean and safe through routine housekeeping and inspections.
• Accurately complete required paperwork and shift reports.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision while meeting quality and timeliness standards.
• Champion safety—follow policies, procedures, and regulations; remain alert to hazards and evolving conditions across mine property.
• Communicate promptly with management about any safety concerns, production impacts, or quality issues.
• Cross-train across multiple tasks and support incidental duties to complete larger objectives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 4+ years as an industrial electrician.
• Journeyman card or Electrical Certification required.
• Hands-on experience supporting industrial operations, with proven troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment.
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLC) preferred.
• 4+ years reading and working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, and specifications.
• Experience with switchgear, motor starters, transformers, generators, relay logic, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Proficiency with lifting devices, hand tools, and power tools.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and clear communication.
• Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English.

Physical demands

• Wear required PPE, including steel-toe footwear and safety glasses.
• Work safely in changing temperatures in production/warehouse areas and outdoors year-round.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50+ lbs; climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach to access equipment.

Shift & Schedule

• Day: 6 AM – 4 PM
• Night: 8 PM – 6 AM
• 6-day work weeks
• As much OT as wanted
• Coverage needed for both day and night shifts
