Location Note
Our headquarters and manufacturing are currently in Alsip, IL. We have a strategic relocation planned to Hammond, IN in 2028. We’re seeking a long-term teammate who can commute to Hammond when the move occurs; reliability to commute to the future location beginning 2027 is important.
The Role
Join us as the procurement engine that fuels production—own vendor relationships, secure the best value without compromising safety or quality, and ensure every component arrives exactly when needed.
What you’ll take on
- Strategic sourcing: interpret requisitions from managers and sales to select optimal suppliers for raw materials, crane components, and shop supplies.
- Vendor management: build strong supplier partnerships; negotiate pricing and terms to drive savings while upholding Uesco’s quality standards.
- Project coordination: track orders, manage inbound/outbound logistics, and resolve back-orders fast to maintain tight production timelines.
- Inventory control: balance availability with cost—avoid line-stopping shortages and unnecessary overstock.
- Collaboration hub: bridge office and shop. Sync daily with production, shipping, receiving, and finance so deliveries, inventory, and billing align.
What you bring
- Computer and typing prowess: fast, accurate typing; confident with multiple screens, purchasing/ERP tools, and Microsoft Excel/Outlook/Word.
- Experience: purchasing/procurement background in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Technical aptitude: familiarity with industrial components (motors, steel, electrical parts); overhead crane knowledge is a plus.
- Commute reliability: able to commute to Alsip, IL now and to Hammond, IN as we transition (beginning 2027).
- Character: an ethical negotiator—organized, detail-focused, and comfortable working independently.
