Job Description
Is this you?
- Do you enjoy turning a weld spec into a repeatable robotic path for MIG, TIG, and spot welds?
- Can you integrate, program, and optimize robots for both welding and CNC machine tending?
- Will you own quality—running cut-and-etch, checking dimensions, and tuning parameters—until the welds are right?
- Are you the first to pop open a teach pendant, trace a fault, and get a cell back online?
Core responsibilities
- Develop and modify robot programs for welding operations and CNC tending cells.
- Install, configure, and adjust robotic weld equipment and controllers to meet production specifications.
- Commission CNC machine tending robots; troubleshoot issues to achieve production targets.
- Set up, calibrate, and validate robotic arms, end-of-arm tooling, and sensing devices.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on robotic welding systems.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and system malfunctions to reduce downtime.
- Verify weld quality using cut-and-etch and dimensional checks; implement parameter changes as needed.
- Ensure all processes meet defined quality standards; use calipers/gauges and report any process or quality deviations.
- Support manufacturing with setups, tool changes, and real-time problem resolution to maintain smooth flow.
- Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE, observe environmental guidelines, and keep the workspace clean and orderly.
Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude with strong knowledge of GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and spot welding.
- Hands-on welding background combined with automation/robotics know-how.
- AWS Certified Robotic Arc Welder (or equivalent) and solid foundational welding knowledge.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in robotics, automation, or welding technology.
- Experience with FANUC, OTC Daihen, Nachi, and Yaskawa robotic systems.
- Familiarity with welding processes/materials and weld controllers such as OTC Daihen, Fronius, and Lincoln.
- Comfortable with programming logic, sensors, and PLCs; able to read blueprints, prints, and check sheets.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; strong mechanical aptitude.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods; lift and carry up to 50 lbs; perform repetitive motions.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and manufacturing environments; firm understanding of MIOSHA and government safety regulations.
- Capable of training, assisting, leading, directing, instructing, and disciplining employees when required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong sense of time management and urgency; able to navigate unexpected challenges and quickly drive solutions.
