ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR TASKS
- Inspect parts prior to painting to ensure quality product
- Ability to read and understand work orders, written procedures, and manufacturing documentation to ensure part is painted to specification
- Ensure that all parts are cleaned, dust-free and paint is applied correctly
- perform all required cleaning/ maintenance on paint booth and spray guns
- Ensure proper hanging of parts on part trees/carts
- Operate the overhead crane as needed
- Paint parts using a paint gun
- Work in a manner in which quality of work and safety while performing work are top priorities
- Notify direct supervisor of any equipment or tooling that is damaged or not working properly
- Maintain accurate records of time and quantities, etc.
- Operate Forklift as needed within department
- Mix paint/ primer per directions
- Properly store or dispose of paints and solvents
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or leadership
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Continuous lifting and carrying items under 10 pounds such as a paint gun
- Continuous handling, gripping and use of fine finger movements with paint gun
- Continuous standing and walking around paint booth
- Continuous use of near vision, color and depth perception during painting process
- Frequent lifting of items between 10 – 50 pounds such as powder paint boxes
- Frequent pushing and pulling of carts and part trees
- Frequent reaching above and below shoulder while painting
- Frequent bending, stooping, crouching and twisting while painting
- Frequent reading, writing and verbal communication in regard to the painting process and manufacturing documentation
- Work is inside a manufacturing environment with frequent noise, powder dust, and thermal energy from the paint oven. Environment can be slippery, congested, hot and humid
- PPE required for this position includes safety shoes, safety glasses, positive air hood, and gloves
- Must be able to pass and maintain OSHA required testing for applicable respirators.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PREREQUISITES:
Education and Experience
Two to Three years industrial or automotive painting experience
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of the practices, materials, methods, and tools of the painting trade
- Ability to read manufacturing documentation
- Skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Good communications skills
