Job Title:  Toddler Teacher
Department: Early Childhood Education
Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Summary


The Infant & Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 17 months to 2.8 years old. This role includes planning and implementing engaging learning experiences, supporting children’s social-emotional development, and maintaining strong communication with families. The teacher ensures high‐quality care that aligns with early childhood best practices, licensing regulations, and program standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plan using the CTELD's guide and activities that support cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth for toddlers.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that promotes exploration and independence.

  • Build warm, responsive, and trusting relationships with children and families.

  • Must be able to use Ages & Stages  for assessment of children.

  • Observe, document, and assess children’s development to inform instruction and meet individual needs.

  • Collaborate with teaching team members to create consistent routines and positive guidance strategies.

  • Communicate daily with families about children’s experiences, milestones, and needs.

  • Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and program policies.

  • Participate in professional development, team meetings, and ongoing training to support continuous improvement.

  • Support inclusive practices and adapt interactions and activities to meet diverse needs and abilities.

Required Qualifications


  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a closely related field.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred (or required, if applicable to your program).

  • Experience working with infants and toddlers in an early childhood or childcare setting.

  • Knowledge of child development principles, responsive caregiving, and developmentally appropriate practice.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to meet all state background check and health requirements.

Preferred Skills


  • Familiarity with state Early Learning Standards and assessment systems.

  • Training in CPR/First Aid, safe sleep, and trauma-informed care.

  • Ability to create inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environments.

Working Conditions


  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in floor-level interaction with children.

  • Active, fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and multitasking.
