Under general supervision, teaches and instructs infants and toddlers in a curriculum of pre-academic social, adaptive, communication, and motor skills.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Early Childhood Education or a related field) from an accredited college or university. & One (1) years’ minimum experience in an early childhood setting;
OR
Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field plus 12 college credits in child development and/or ECE. & Two (2) years’ experience in an early childhood setting.
SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION:Skill In: Designing and implementing lesson plans for students having a wide range of achievement; effective communication with students, parents, or guardians, staff and administrators; working with children in an understanding, patient, receptive and confident manner; organizing activities in keeping with the maturity and attention span of assigned students; following written and oral instructions; managing student behavior; using standard office equipment, including personal computer.
Knowledge of: Early childhood education teaching processes and techniques; concepts of child development and developmental behavior characteristics; effective behavior management techniques; rules and procedures for child/student safety.
Ability to: Communicate effectively; work with students in a positive and confident manner; observe safe work practices; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships; arrive to work in a timely manner; attend required training; maintain confidentiality.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
Licenses or Certifications Required: A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe. A valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate and Food Handler’s permit may be required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
