We are seeking a nurturing, dependable, and passionate Infant Classroom Teacher to join our Childcare Program team. The Infant Teacher will provide a safe, warm, and enriching environment for infants while supporting their development in meeting age-appropriate milestones. The ideal candidate is patient, responsive, and knowledgeable about infant development and is committed to creating an engaging and loving environment for our youngest learners.

Supervision The Infant Classroom Teacher will report to the Early Learning Center Director or their designee.

Position Overview The Infant Classroom teacher is a salaried position and is responsible for working alongside another Infant Classroom Teacher. These teachers together are responsible for creating and maintaining a warm, responsive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for ages 0-15 months. This role would include:

  • Planning curriculum as a team.
  • Maintaining strong communication with families.
  • Ensuring compliance with EEC licensing/certification requirements.

Childcare Program Overview The Childcare Program hours are 8:15am - 4:15pm Monday through Friday.

  • Child Care and Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive, responsive, and individualized care to infants throughout the day.

  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of each child in the classroom.

  • Follow individualized schedules for feeding, bottle feeding, diapering, sleeping, and play based on each infants needs.

  • Safely lift, carry, and comfort infants throughout the day.

  • Daily Care Routines:

  • Diaper infants regularly.

  • Feed infants according to the instructions from each family while following program policies.

  • Support safe sleep practices following EEC and center guidelines.

  • Curriculum and Development:

  • Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with early learning standards.

  • Sit on the floor and actively engage in play with infants to support exploration, bonding, and developmental growth.

  • Support childrens social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

  • Observe and document childrens progress and milestones.

  • Provide opportunities throughout the day that would encourage exploration, motor development, and social interaction.

  • Health and Safety:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.

  • Follow all health, safety, and EEC licensing regulations.

  • Follow all Childcare Program Policies per the Program Handbook, including but not limited to illness guidelines, accident, and emergency policies.

  • Regularly sanitize toys, materials, and classroom surfaces regularly following EEC expectations.

  • Family Communication:

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with families.

  • Conduct daily communication with parents regarding routines, feeding, naps, and developmental milestones.

  • Participate in Parent-Teacher meetings 2 times a year following progress reports to provide developmental updates or as needed/requested from a family.

  • Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other Infant Teachers and other teaching staff members.

  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training.

  • Support the Childcare Programs overall goals.

Qualifications

  • Meet the minimum hiring requirements, for an EEC Assistant Teacher, as defined by the Department of Early Education and Care, upon hiring.
  • Meet the minimum hiring requirements for an EEC Teacher, as defined by the Department of Early Education and Care, within one year of hiring.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • All EEC Health requirements met, including evidence of a physical exam, proof of required immunizations (including MMR), and a Statement of Good Health from a healthcare provider prior to employment.
  • As a condition of employment, all staff must complete and clear a comprehensive Department of Early Education and Care Background Record Check (BRC) to ensure the safety of children.
  • Have taken or willing to take Child Growth and Development within 1 year of hiring if not already a qualified EEC Teacher.
  • Completion of EEC Essentials 2.0 within 2 months of hiring.
  • Staff Orientation with the Program Director.
  • Experience working with infants in a childcare or early childhood setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of infant development and age-appropriate practices.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependable, flexible, positive, and energetic.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit on the floor, lift infants, and move throughout the classroom as needed.
  • Full range of motion, ability to bend, kneel, able to lift and hold up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequently lifting, carrying, and holding the infants throughout the day.
  • Maintaining active supervision throughout the day.
