About Sylvania Children's Center

For over 30 years, Sylvania Children's Center has served Toledo families as a NAEYC Accredited, Step Up To Quality Gold Rated program. We have a structured onboarding program, a Mentor Teacher Program, and leadership that actively coaches and develops every educator on our team. We don't just hire warm people, we foster the growth of educators, children, and the community we serve.

Who Thrives Here

Not every candidate is the right fit for SCC — and we mean that as a compliment to the ones who are.
The educators who grow fastest here are the ones who:
  • Crave structure over ambiguity — they thrive inside a well-run program with clear systems and expectations
  • See feedback as fuel — they're coachable, apply corrections quickly, and treat coaching as part of the job
  • Come to work wanting to grow, not just get through the day
  • Want to be part of something bigger than their classroom — a team, a culture, a standard worth upholding
  • Are motivated to develop the people around them, not just the children they serve
If you're warm, skilled, and hungry to grow inside a high-standard program — we want to hear from you.

The Role

The Infant Teacher creates a calm, predictable environment where infants feel safe, known, and engaged. Through intentional caregiving, sensory-rich experiences, and consistent routines, you'll support the foundational development of children from birth through 18 months — while partnering closely with families and contributing to a team that holds itself to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build secure, responsive relationships through consistent and intentional caregiving
  • Execute daily routines — feeding, diapering, rest, and transitions — with care and precision
  • Implement sensory-rich experiences supporting cognitive, motor, and social-emotional development
  • Observe and document developmental progress (ASQ & TSG)
  • Communicate with families daily through Procare and Lillio
  • Maintain a safe, organized classroom compliant with OAC licensing and NAEYC standards
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development (min. 20 hours/year)
What We Require
  • CDA, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field — required
  • Must meet Ohio licensing requirements for the infant/toddler age group
  • Knowledge of infant development and responsive caregiving practices
  • Strong communication skills and a coachable, growth-oriented mindset
  • The professionalism and consistency your team and families can count on every day
What We Offer
  • Competitive pay based on experience and credentials
  • Structured onboarding program and Mentor Teacher Program
  • Paid weekly planning time and professional development
  • Active leadership that coaches and invests in your growth
  • A culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence
  • Opportunities for advancement
The first year of life shapes everything that follows. If you take that seriously — apply today.
