Infection Control Nurse - Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Sign-on bonus of $15,000 for this full-time position *

Essential Responsibilities - RN (Registered Nurse)

As our Infection Control Nurse, you will help maintain and promote a safe, healthy environment for residents and team members through infection surveillance, prevention, education, and clinical leadership.

Monitor resident and staff infections, treatments, and infection trends

Collect, analyze, document, and report infection control data

Develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention and control policies and procedures

Investigate infection clusters and outbreaks to identify potential causes and assist in determining appropriate courses of action

Promote and teach infection prevention practices and preventative techniques throughout the organization

Conduct infection control education and in-service training in accordance with State and Federal regulations

Educate employees regarding Hepatitis B vaccination and related prevention practices

Administer and accurately document vaccinations in accordance with established policies and clinical standards

Coordinate and administer tuberculosis (TB) testing/screening for residents and staff, evaluate results, and facilitate appropriate referrals and follow-up

Coordinate nursing meetings and prepare meeting agendas

Administer and coordinate nursing competency testing

Coordinate required annual staff training and education

Serve as a patient education coordinator by researching and providing educational videos, resources, tools, and other materials to support resident and patient education

Maintain accurate documentation and records related to infection prevention, vaccinations, education, and clinical competencies

Collaborate with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support quality improvement, resident safety, and regulatory compliance

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Are proficient with computers, electronic documentation, and position-relevant software

Education, Training, Experience

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited college or university required

Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required

Minimum of two years of nursing experience working with older adults required

Two years of experience in infection control or infection prevention preferred

Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, or senior care is beneficial

Must meet all continuing education and professional requirements necessary to maintain active RN licensure

Demonstrates a commitment to continued personal and professional growth

Participates in required in-service training, education, and departmental meetings

Required Licenses, Registration, and/or Certifications

Current, active Michigan Board of Nursing license as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Physical Requirements

This position includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities. You must be able to:

Stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, twist, and turn as needed throughout the workday

Safely lift and/or move up to 30 pounds

Operate mechanical lifts, shower equipment, adjustable chairs and beds, and other resident-care equipment as needed

Operate standard office and computer equipment

Maintain the visual acuity necessary to perform clinical and administrative responsibilities, including close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Communicate effectively through speaking, listening, and written communication
