Position Available: Infectious Disease Physician

Our organization is actively looking for an Infectious Disease Physician who has a passion for academic medicine to become part of our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will hold board certification or be board eligible in infectious disease and will receive an academic title that reflects their level of experience. This is a full-time position focused on adult infectious diseases, involving inpatient consultations and one clinic day each week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and manage a wide variety of infectious diseases, including but not limited to:
    • Sepsis and bloodstream infections
    • Endocarditis
    • Osteomyelitis and infections related to prosthetic joints
    • Complex skin and soft tissue infections
    • Healthcare-associated infections and those resistant to multiple drugs
    • Inpatient care for HIV-related conditions
    • Opportunistic infections in patients with compromised immune systems
    • Infections following surgery and those related to medical devices
  • Engage directly with Albany Med's Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
  • Work collaboratively with teams in hospital medicine, critical care, surgery, oncology, transplant, nephrology, and emergency medicine, as well as local community hospitals through telemedicine.
  • Participate in weekend on-call duties, anticipated at a ratio of 1:5.
Qualifications
  • Board certified or board eligible in infectious disease.
  • Experience in treating both surgical and complex medical patients.
  • Interest or experience in hospital epidemiology is advantageous.
Working Conditions

This role is primarily focused on adult infectious disease management, with responsibilities split between inpatient consultations and outpatient clinic work.
