Our school is rooted in having a shared responsibility for student success and by hiring students, we will empower students to provide peer to peer support. The STEM department aims to support students in not only increasing their ability to leverage technology in their education, but also play an active role in developing supportive programs for all students. This is accomplished through opening our lab before and after school.   Job Summary: Students who are hired for this position will be responsible for understanding the various technology resources in the lab and ensuring proper use and maintenance of all resources. Students in this position will report to the STEM specialist and STEM early college coordinator   This student employee position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. The work schedule for this role will consist of an estimated 4 hours per week 1 hour per day, four days a week for an anticipated period of 6 months beginning 1/1/24 and ending 6/15/24 The Innovation Lab Worker will complete duties such as the following:Learning to effective use and maintain all equipment in the labTroubleshooting problems with various technologies in the labProviding support to peers in the lab who are looking to learn new skillsTrack inventory of consumables used in the labKeep the lab clean and ensure policies and procedures are being followed The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are preferred: Willingness to learn new techniques and troubleshooting various issuesFlexible in responding to Ability to apply critical thinking skills when faced with challenges in order to problem solve and arrive at a solutionStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to collaborate with school staff and peer students as an active member of a teamProficient in the use of digital technology (ex: basic computers skills)Capable of maintaining professionalism in various situationsStrong work ethic and drive to successfully complete assigned tasks In order to qualify for this student worker position, candidates must be actively enrolled at Infinity STEM High School during the 2023-2024 school year. A valid work permit will be required for students under the age of 16.   1. Lab Maintenance and Badges:Interns will be responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of the Innovation Lab. They will receive training and earn different badges for mastering key equipment, including the Cricut machine, 3D printer, vinyl cutter, and laser printer. 2. Recruitment and Promotion:Interns will play a pivotal role in recruiting their peers to utilize the Innovation Lab during their lunch period. They will actively promote the labs resources and encourage students to explore their creativity and STEM interests through hands-on projects. 3. STEM Exposure Events:Interns will support and organize STEM exposure events held every other Friday. These events will be designed to showcase the capabilities of the Innovation Lab to the broader school community. Interns will help plan and execute interactive demonstrations, workshops, and presentations to engage both students and teachers in the world of STEM.
