Position Overview:
The Informatics Nurse Specialist (INS) provides leadership, consultation, and direction for information technology that impacts clinical nursing information management from planning through evaluation. The INS is an expert in the design and use of informatics solutions that support the vision and mission of the organization. The INS serves as a bridge between the Department of Nursing and other institutional groups, linking clinical practice, technology, and information management to enhance patient care. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Nursing Informatics Practice, ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses provides the basis for practice.
Scope:
- Interact with the informatics team and directly with clinical practice proponents to review requested items in Epic. Change requests are submitted by practice proponents to fill a need they have or solve a problem. The change request requires review to determine the best course of action, assess if the request is the best solution, its feasibility, and the downstream implications. Submit the request, follow the approval process, work with the builder when assigned to answer questions, testing, and follow through to production.
- Review existing workflow when working on a change request to ensure the workflow is correct and make changes if it will be affected by the change.
Requirements:
- Epic certification or proficiency in at least one application: inpatient Clin Doc, Ambulatory documentation, orders. Prefer multiple.
- Clinical background and knowledge to understand and assist with clinical workflow reviews when reviewing requests from clinical practices for solutions in Epic.
- Prefer Service Now experience.
- Prefer Click Up experience.
- Familiarity with TEAMS and Microsoft Outlook.

Skills:
- Minimum of three years clinical experience in healthcare preferred.
- Evidence of advanced knowledge and competence in Nursing Informatics.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships throughout the organization.
- Ability to apply an evidence base to nursing informatics.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Experience in training or teaching others.
- Demonstrated computer literacy with strong knowledge of software applications.
