Job Summary Information Security Platform Engineer (Contractor)
- 6-month remote contract supporting and enhancing information security tools and operations
- Serve as a senior-level individual contributor; no people-management responsibilities
- Build, configure, and provide Tier 2 support for a range of security technologies (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, WAF, endpoint protection, email security, vulnerability management, asset inventory, cloud security controls)
- Operationalize and tune existing security platforms, including feature enablement and platform upgrades
- Partner closely with Information Security and IT teams to improve Security Operations Center (SOC) efficiency and incident response
- Investigate and help remediate escalated security incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and provide technical documentation
- Assist with audit, penetration test, and vulnerability assessment preparation and response
- Produce clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer for internal teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams in a remote environment
- Required: 4+ years in security engineering, incident response, or IT infrastructure with security tooling exposure
- Practical experience with endpoint/EDR, email, network, vulnerability management, and secure cloud configurations
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with at least one industry security framework or regulation (e.g., NIST, CIS, SANS, MITRE, HIPAA, HITRUST)
- Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), SOC tool operationalization, and security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+)
- Deliverables include stable and effective security tool operation, improved detection and reliability, faster incident response, and comprehensive documentation for knowledge transfer
