Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support classified information systems operating within a SCIF environment. The ISSO will be responsible for system authorization, security control enforcement, continuous monitoring, risk management, and compliance oversight in accordance with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and applicable Intelligence Community requirements, including ICD 503, ICD 704, and ICD 705. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing ATO lifecycles, developing SSPs, conducting security assessments, and maintaining audit readiness within highly regulated classified environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Own and manage the complete Authorization to Operate (ATO) lifecycle for classified information systems, including authorization, reauthorization, and security assessment activities.
- Develop, maintain, and update System Security Plans (SSPs), RMF documentation, and security authorization packages in accordance with NIST 800-53 and applicable IC requirements.
- Lead continuous monitoring (ConMon) activities, track vulnerabilities and control gaps, and coordinate remediation efforts impacting system authorization.
- Validate system changes, privileged access, and security-relevant modifications to ensure proper review, approval, documentation, and segregation of duties.
- Partner with infrastructure, platform, application, and agency teams to incorporate security requirements into system design, deployment, and change activities.
- Support security assessments, audit remediation, control validation, and ongoing compliance activities while maintaining strong documentation and audit readiness.
Must-have Skills:- 5–8+ years of ISSO, ISSM, or equivalent Information System Security experience in classified environments.
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph is required.
- Strong hands-on experience with NIST RMF, NIST 800-53, ATO lifecycle management, SSPs, and security authorization packages.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD 503, ICD 704, ICD 705 and experience operating within SCIF/classified environments.
Nice-to-have Skills:- Experience with continuous monitoring (ConMon), control automation, vulnerability management, and enterprise security tooling.
- Experience supporting IC or DoD classified systems, including cloud, hybrid, or on-premises classified infrastructure.
- Experience supporting ATO renewals, security assessments, audit remediation, and control deficiency resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Completion of an IC ISSO training program or equivalent security authorization training.
- Strong communication, documentation, independent problem-solving, and audit-readiness skills in highly regulated environments.
