Global Service Resources is looking for a contractor in Los Angeles.

Job Title: Information Technology Mainframe Operator
Location: Downey, CA 90242
Shift: Must be willing to accept different shifts
  • Morning Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • Swing Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • Graveyard Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Assignment type: Temporary (12 months w/ high chance of extension or hire)
Pay rate: $35-$40/hour

Responsibilities:
  • Reports to IT Systems Operations Supervisor (IBM mainframe environment)
  • Starts/stops system tasks and monitors system consoles
  • Ensures system health and normal operations
  • Manages major subsystems (TP systems, databases, OS)
  • Performs system restart operations (shutdown/startup)
  • Coordinates with system programmers and production control
Qualifications:
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with IBM mainframe technologies (z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, etc.)
  • 5+ years mainframe operator experience
    • 2+ years on IBM p-Series/z-Series platforms
    • 1+ year in system monitoring/automation (e.g., ITM)
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field (or equivalent)
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Good customer service and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • 2+ years with Windows/Linux servers & z/OS
  • Experience maintaining logs/tickets in tracking systems
  • Strong English communication skills
