The City of Laramie is accepting applications from qualified individuals for the Information Technology Manager position. This position provides operational leadership, technical knowledge, project coordination, employee development, and strong communication with City departments. This position must be a good communicator, strong project manager, supportive mentor, technically skilled IT professional, and strategic thinker who knows how to manage a high volume of detailed technical and operational work to produce high-quality outcomes and a thriving team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
With direction from the Information Technology Director, manage the daily operations of the Information Technology Division. Coordinate organization-wide IT support services, including helpdesk operations, endpoint support, user account support, server support, application support coordination, and technology service delivery. Prioritize and assign work to IT staff to ensure service requests, incidents, projects, maintenance tasks, and technical issues are handled in a timely and effective manner. Monitor operational performance, including system availability, response times, incident resolution, project progress, patching compliance, documentation completion, and customer service outcomes. Translate the Information Technology Director's strategic goals into practical work plans, projects, operating procedures, service delivery improvements, and operational priorities. Strategically manage daily operational work, urgent support needs, planned maintenance, cybersecurity priorities, project outcomes, and long-term technology improvements to produce high-quality deliverables by stated deadlines. Manage employee talent strategically to develop individuals and the IT team as a whole in an aligned fashion. Use management techniques that reduce stress in an environment that must produce a high volume of operational support work, technical maintenance, emergency response, and project outcomes. With direction and buy-in from the Information Technology Director, implement continuous improvements within assigned functions that maximize the effectiveness, reliability, security, and efficiency of IT operations. Generate creative ideas to address persistent technology and service delivery challenges and actively solicit feedback that helps gather buy-in, refine solutions, reduce service gaps, and implement system improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS (A combination of the following experience and training, or the equivalent of, would be qualifying):
Bachelor's degree in information technology, management information systems, or related field. Ten years of progressively responsible experience in information technology systems administration, infrastructure management, cybersecurity operations, application support, or IT service delivery. Three years of supervisory, project coordination, or management experience.
