Job Summary
The Information Technology (IT) Release Manager III is a strategic leader and subject matter expert responsible for the end-to-end management of IT change control, and software releases across multiple environments. This position oversees the planning, scheduling, and deployment of software releases, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Release Management: • Serve as a subject matter expert in release management processes, leading the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and deploying of software releases across multiple environments. • Develop and maintain comprehensive release calendars, plans, and documentation to ensure alignment with project timelines and business objectives. • Create and oversee KPIs and metrics to continuously evaluate and improve the release management process.
Change Management: • Drive the implementation of change management principles and practices, assessing the impact of changes and managing change requests to minimize disruptions. • Set strategic release policies and improve processes in alignment with IT goals.
Configuration Management: • Oversee the use of configuration management tools and practices to ensure consistency across development, testing, and production environments. • Manage version control and maintain the integrity of configuration items.
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): • Lead the implementation and management of CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes, facilitating faster and more reliable software releases.
Stakeholder Management: • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors. • Make critical decisions regarding release scheduling, risk management, and resource allocation to ensure transparency and alignment throughout the release process.
Risk Management: • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with software releases, ensuring that potential issues are addressed to minimize impact on timelines and quality.
Duties Continued Quality Assurance: • Guide the development and implementation of quality assurance practices, including testing strategies and regression testing, to ensure the reliability and integrity of software releases.
Project Management: • Utilize project management methodologies and tools to effectively plan, track, and manage release activities, resources, and dependencies, ensuring successful execution.
Leadership and Mentoring: • Lead and mentor the release management team, providing guidance and support to junior team members by fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the team.
Strategic Planning: • Contribute to strategic planning by aligning release management activities with organizational goals and priorities, playing a critical role in the success and growth of the business.
Problem-Solving: • Identify root causes of issues, develop innovative solutions, and drive process improvements that enhance the effectiveness of release management practices.
Education Required Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or Related Field
In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.
Education Preferred Masters Degree in IT Project Management or Related Field
Experience Required At least 6 years of experience in strategic release planning and execution, including the development of release strategies and roadmaps that align with business objectives and customer needs.
At least 6 years of experience managing release plans to deliver high-quality software on time.
At least 6 years of experience in process optimization, finding ways to improve change and release processes for better efficiency.
At least 6 years of experience implementing best practices and tools to enhance change and release management workflows and measuring KPIs for data-driven decisions.
At least 6 years of experience in stakeholder communication, acting as the main contact for senior management, customers, and partner teams.
Experience in risk management, assessing release risks, and making informed decisions for successful software delivery.
Experience in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
Experience in leading teams and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
