SALARY ENTRY: $98,408,99 - Max $ 171,497.05 Annually

The IT Security Systems Engineer plays a critical role within the Communications, Information & Technology Department of the Network & Transport Division, building and supporting the Countys Enterprise Communication Network and validating that designs meet regulatory compliance for Seaport and Corrections. This role entails specialized work encompassing planning, designing, implementing, evaluating, maintaining, and managing enterprise data, voice, wireless, and security infrastructure that supports applications and control systems. The incumbent is responsible for engineering, implementing and supporting the countys enterprise cybersecurity infrastructure.

Duties include, but are not limited to, analyzing vendor hardware and software, establishing network and cybersecurity standards, and leading cybersecurity projects, including firewall, load balancer, and security appliance deployments, as well as cybersecurity response duties. The person selected will be responsible for supporting the designs implemented. The role also includes identifying security gaps and audit requirements and ensuring systems and solutions meet the department's regulatory and cybersecurity needs.

The incumbent requires proficiency in applicable International, Federal, State, and local laws related to cybersecurity frameworks and computer networking, as well as knowledge of County and industry standards, national codes, and best-practice frameworks to meet security compliance and audit requirements for their customers. The ability to research, design, implement, and integrate complex cybersecurity and computer networking systems is fundamental. This role also involves using various project management methods and tools to manage project timelines and deliverables, as well as planning, scheduling, coordinating, and reviewing the work of professional team members and contractors. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are vital for conveying technical strategies and solutions. The incumbent must communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, uphold the integrity of established service-level commitments, and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors, and a diverse range of public officials and third-party entities.

To be successful candidate in this position you will leverage experience in multiple Cybersecurity technologies, systems analysis, frameworks and regulatory requirements to implement robust secure systems that meet best practices and leverage either existing systems or provide a better ROI/TCO solution. Ability to apply knowledge in systems design, implementation, maintenance, and administration of architected systems is key. Knowledge of endpoint EDR, ASR, patch management and vulnerability management. The successful candidate will have a strong network/security design skill set, ability to script in python/PowerShell, leverage Co-Pilot to maximize efficiency in supporting edge attack surface management and EDR security response. Fortinet Firewall experience is preferred.

The incumbent must meet a CJIS background check administered by the Sheriff's Office to be employed and will be required to be available for on-call after-hours support. The job is onsite for the first year, then may offer hybrid opportunities in the future. You may be required to serve during emergencies in an on-site role to provide emergency support.
