Job Description and Duties

Are you an experienced webmaster and looking for a diverse, challenging, and rewarding position to help preserve California's natural resources? CDFW is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual interested in supporting, maintaining and enhancing the Department's public and private facing websites.

The mission of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is to manage California's diverse fish, wildlife, and plant resources, and the habitats upon which they depend, for their ecological values and for their use and enjoyment by the public.

Under the direction of Information Technology (IT) Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist I performs a variety of duties that are complex in nature and moderately broad in scope. The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, operation and improvements of the Departments' websites, website platforms and software. This includes assuring all web pages and published documents comply with all State and Department policies, guidelines and standards; maintaining and managing the content and organization of new and existing web pages and published documents as directed; monitoring website activities; updating and enhancing websites, website platforms and software.

Personal Leave Program: Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions ranging from 2% to 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) hours. This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Employees are currently required to work in-person at least two (2) days per week. Beginning July 1, 2026, employees will be required to work in-person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25. Additional in-office days may be required based on operational needs.

Working Conditions

The duties of this position are primarily conducted indoors in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled cubicle which can fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light. The position involves sitting most of the time but also requires walking or standing, required to use a computer, mouse, keyboard, and will be required to focus and sit for long periods of time at a computer screen, multi-tasking, adapting to changes in priorities, and completing tasks or projects with short notice. Travel up to 5% may be required via private or public transportation.

Desirable Qualifications

Provide a brief overview of a project you were involved with where you had to use your skills capturing analytics and how they contributed to the outcome of the project.

  6. Describe your experience including how many years you have performed business analysis activities. Provide a brief overview of a project where you led or contributed significantly to the project. List what your role was, what tools or processes you used, and the project's outcome.
