Job Description and Duties
The California State Payroll System (CSPS) IT Project is a project to improve and replace the current personnel and payroll systems. CSPS will deliver a modern solution for Human Capital Management (HCM) including core HR functionality (position control, personnel administration, benefits administration, time management, and travel and expense management) and payroll with employee self-service and streamlined business processes using innovative technology solutions.
Under general direction provided by the CSPS Functional Business Manager, the California State University (CSU) Business Analyst is responsible for performing a variety of complex analytical and IT support activities in the areas of business process analysis, system design analysis, problem resolution, legislative analysis, and consultation. The ITS I will combine complex analysis for business needs with project management tasks, which includes personnel and payroll systems design planning and implementation activities for this highly complex IT project.
The ITS I will be responsible for performing analysis on all functional capabilities specific to the CSU interface design between the CSU centralized system and the SCO future solution. They will be responsible for participating in the design, development, configuration, testing and implementation of the interface of core HR/payroll functionality needed for the CSU. There are 23 campuses and the Chancellor's Office that make up the CSU system. The ITS I will be responsible for ensuring the interface design between campuses is successful.

This position is located at The Emerald Tower on Capitol Mall, steps from Tower Bridge and is walking distance to the State Capitol. This position is eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the State Controller's Office policies.
