Job Description and Duties
The Information Technology Operations and Support Branch (ITOSB) is responsible for the implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of the California Air Resources Board's (CARB's) office automation computer systems and supporting infrastructure. CARB's network, desktop, telecom and enterprise systems support more than 2,000 end users in Sacramento, SoCal and other remote sites. ITOSB provides Technical Support services of IT assets; IT communications (service desk, email support, telecom); to all CARB staff. In addition to these roles, ITOSB works closely with the Systems Development and Support Branch (SDSB) and the Security Operations Center (SOC) to successfully and securely deliver mission-critical business applications and support services to CARB programs and external stakeholders.
The Tech Support Section (TSS) provides second level support of desktop computers and printers, smart devices, and serves as an IT resource center to all CARB staff. TSS works to successfully and securely deliver mission-critical business applications and support services to CARB programs and external stakeholders.
Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager (ITM) II of the ITOSB, the Information Technology Supervisor (IT Sup) II provides direct supervision of IT staff supporting Headquarters and remote sites throughout Northern CA for the TSS. Develops a high-performance team and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. The IT Sup II provides technical leadership to staff; and provides project management and technical expertise in support of the most complex CARB IT projects. The IT Sup II is responsible for, but not limited to, a variety of highly complex and technical IT activities that include supporting CARB end users with workstations, business applications, databases, networks, servers, telecom, and office automation systems. In this capacity, the IT Sup II coordinates administration and support activities for TSS IT staff. Responsible for the hiring, training, development, and appropriately addressing staff performance issues as necessary for all section resources. The IT Sup II will serve as a backup to the IT Sup II in Southern California.

Working Conditions
This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resources Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required.
The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.
Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
