Position Summary
Information Job Description Summary
Learning Space Student Technicians are the main source of audiovisual assistance for professors and presenters in teaching and learning spaces. The main responsibilities of these technicians entail:
- Ensuring uninterrupted classroom operations by responding to hotline inquiries with immediate high-priority phone and in-person support.
- Collaborating with full-time staff to deliver comprehensive technical support to faculty, staff, and the broader university community.
- Assessing, resolving, and documenting learning space service requests, incidents, and tasks within the ticketing system to ensure accurate records.
- Facilitating efficient setup and real-time support for classroom technology to keep academic schedules on track.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software malfunctions during active instruction and between classes to minimize downtime.
- Ensuring long-term hardware reliability by maintaining accurate asset records and performing routine functional systems testing and preventive maintenance.
- Gaining hands-on experience with technical projects involving the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of specialized audiovisual software and hardware.
Requirements
Preferred candidates will possess the following skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in contexts of customer service, the ability to handle potentially challenging situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, specifically the ability to cultivate positive work relationships.
- Working knowledge of multimedia equipment operation and interfacing.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills.
- High degree of adaptability.
- Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft 365.
- Knowledge of HTML5 highly valued.
- Training provided to ensure job success.

Physical Demands
