Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. The Infrastructure and Network Administrator provides leadership and operational oversight for the College's technology infrastructure, network services, enterprise systems, and information security initiatives. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the College's server, network, virtualization, backup, and connectivity environments to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology services. Coordinates information security activities with the System Office, and leads the design and administration of enterprise technologies, including Active Directory, domain services, backup and recovery systems, surveillance platforms, certificates, and wide area network connectivity. The position ensures that technology infrastructure supports institutional goals, business continuity, cybersecurity requirements, and the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff.

Job duties include:

• Serves as Institutional Information Security Officer and liaison with System Office
• Supervise Network Manager and Firewall support strategies.
• Administration of Milestone, Hik Vision, VEEAM Backup, Virtualization Technologies, Certificate Management, and Firewall systems.
• Oversee all Infrastructure and Network Administration to include server, switch, and router installation, configuration and management. Design and implement Active Directory & Domain Controller relationships to ensure business needs are met. Oversee all wiring and cable terminations to ensure connectivity. Ensure battery backup systems are installed and operational on all critical infrastructure.
• Maintain and oversee the college's wireless network, access points and configurations to ensure the college's business needs are met.
• Oversee all fiber connections and maintenance of WAN and LAN circuits.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience of Information Technology concepts including networking technologies, fiber optics, cabling and termination, switch management (Cisco/Meraki), wireless LAN, Palo Alto Firewall, windows servers, virtualization technologies, subnetting, and VLANs
• Knowledge of enterprise network and infrastructure administration.
• Knowledge of fiber optics and connections.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and risk management practices.
• Skill in server, virtualization, backup, and disaster recovery administration.
• Skill in Active Directory, identity management, and enterprise systems administration.
• Skill in planning and managing complex technology projects.
• Skill in supervising and developing technical staff.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to ensure the reliability, security, and continuity of enterprise technology services.
• Ability to work from heights and confined spaces

Additional Considerations:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Information Technology related field with an emphasis in networking.
