Role Overview
This is a hands-on implementation role requiring strong architectural judgment, focused primarily on Azure cloud infrastructure, identity integration, storage, and secure access.
A secondary focus of the role is to build and operationalize our End User Compute platform, including Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
As part of this platform rollout, the engineer will support initial endpoint provisioning and deployment at our Nashville site, helping establish our enterprise device management capability.
The End User Compute portion of this role is focused on platform implementation and enablement, not ongoing desktop support.
This role operates within an Agile delivery model and participates in daily Scrum and sprint activities.
Key Responsibilities
Azure Cloud Infrastructure & Platform (Primary Focus ~60%)
  • Design and implement secure Azure environments supporting enterprise workloads
  • Deploy and securely configure solutions from the Azure Marketplace
  • Implement Azure networking, access restrictions, and secure connectivity
  • Design and implement Azure storage solutions, including:
    • Azure Files (including Azure Virtual Desktop / FSLogix profile storage)
    • Azure Blob Storage
    • Managed Disks and Storage Accounts
  • Configure secure storage access using identity integration and network restrictions
  • Support identity integration using Okta and Microsoft Entra ID
  • Support Azure DevOps pipelines and infrastructure deployment workflows
  • Deploy and support secure remote access using OpenVPN
  • Ensure infrastructure aligns with modern cloud and Zero Trust security principles
  • End User Compute Platform (Secondary Focus ~40%)
  • Focus on building and operationalizing the platform, not desktop support.
  • Implement and configure Microsoft Intune for enterprise endpoint management
  • Configure Windows Autopilot for automated device provisioning
  • Deploy and operationalize Azure Virtual Desktop environments
  • Build and maintain secure Azure Virtual Desktop gold images
  • Configure endpoint security, compliance, and Conditional Access integration
  • Establish secure, scalable endpoint management practices
  • As part of initial rollout:
  • Support provisioning and deployment of endpoint devices at the Nashville site
  • Ensure devices are properly enrolled, secured, and integrated with management systems
  • Monitoring and Operational Visibility (Key Deliverable)
  • Implement Prometheus and Grafana to establish foundational infrastructure monitoring
  • Configure dashboards and alerting for key Azure and infrastructure components
  • Infrastructure Automation and Source Control (Nice to Have)
  • Support infrastructure automation using Terraform or similar tools
  • Work with GitHub or similar platforms for configuration and source management
  • Agile Delivery
  • Participate in daily Scrum meetings
  • Contribute to sprint planning and backlog refinement
  • Collaborate across infrastructure, security, and application teams
  • Required Qualifications
  • 5 years Infrastructure or Cloud Engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure
  • Experience designing and implementing Azure storage solutions (Azure Files, Blob Storage, Managed Disks)
  • Experience implementing Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot
  • Experience deploying Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Experience integrating identity platforms such as Okta and Entra ID
  • Experience supporting Azure DevOps
  • Experience configuring VPN solutions such as OpenVPN
  • Experience securing cloud and endpoint environments
  • Experience working in Agile environments
