Position Summary

We’re looking for a Systems Generalist — someone who thrives in broad, varied technical environments and enjoys owning problems end?to?end. This role is ideal for engineers who “do a bit of everything” across servers, networking, identity, cloud, and endpoints. If you’re adaptable, curious, and comfortable learning on the fly, you’ll fit right in.

The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on problem-solving skills with experience in server management, virtualization, and system reliability. This position plays a key role in ensuring the availability, security, and performance of the client’s networked systems across multiple manufacturing sites.

 Key Responsibilities

1. Core Systems & Infrastructure Operations

·        Systems Operations — Maintain and troubleshoot Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, storage appliances, and core services.

·        Identity & Access Management — Manage RBAC, directory services, MFA, SSO, and user lifecycle workflows.

·        Networking Fundamentals — Support DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing basics, VPNs, and firewall changes.

·        Cloud & SaaS Administration — Support and implement M365, SAML/OAUTH integrations, hybrid identity.

·        Monitoring & Reliability — Respond to alerts, improve observability, and ensure systems stay healthy.

2. Automation, Endpoint, and Operational Efficiency

·        Automation & Scripting — Use PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.

·        Endpoint Management — Handle device compliance, patching, imaging, and troubleshooting.

·        Operational Documentation — Maintain clear, concise documentation for systems, network diagrams, processes, and configurations.

·        Cross?functional Problem Solving — Own issues that span multiple domains without unnecessary hand?offs.

3. Vendor, Budget, and Lifecycle Support

·        Vendor Coordination — Work with vendors for support escalations, troubleshooting, and service requests.

·        Contract & Renewal Support — Assist with tracking renewals, reviewing service levels, and coordinating contract updates.

·        Budgeting & Purchasing — Support hardware/software purchasing, cost comparisons, establish baselines, and lifecycle planning.

·        Asset & License Management — Help maintain accurate inventories and ensure license compliance.

4. Security & Compliance

·        Firewall & Endpoint Security — Maintain firewall rules, endpoint protection, and network access controls.

·        Vulnerability & Patch Compliance — Assist with security audits, vulnerability management, and patch compliance efforts.

·        Cybersecurity Policy Support — Support the organization’s cybersecurity policies, IT governance standards, and compliance requirements.

·        Security Monitoring — Help review alerts, logs, and security events to ensure a secure operating environment.

Qualifications Required:

You don’t need to be a senior engineer — but you should have solid fundamentals across several of these areas:
  • Windows and/or Linux server administration
  • Virtualization (VMware, Hyper?V, or similar)
  • Networking basics (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, IP routing, firewall management)
  • Identity and access management (Azure AD, AD DS, RBAC)
  • PowerShell or similar scripting experience
  • M365 or comparable SaaS administration
  • Endpoint management and patching
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting across the stack

Preferred:
  • Experience in hybrid M365 environments
  • Familiarity with security and regulatory frameworks (ITAR, CMMC)
  • Exposure to automation frameworks
  • Understanding of ITIL?style operational practices

Core Competencies
  • Strong technical and analytical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable,  and self-teachable with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to high standards of system availability, performance, and security.
