The City of Topeka’s Utilities department is seeking a dynamic and confident manager to help lead the Water Distribution division. This position is responsible for assisting with the management and supervision of section foreman and multiple work crews that perform maintenance, repair, inspection and construction to the water distribution system or the water treatment plant. This incumbent responds and assists in regular hour and after-hour emergencies twenty-four (24) hours a day on a scheduled call rotation.
What you'll do:
- Manage the work of multiple work crews, contractors and/or plumbers.
- Assist with the evaluation and accountability for work performance, optimization and behavior of the assigned work force.
- Review work in progress to ensure cost efficiency and quality.
- Supervise staff with respect to performance, behavior and training.
The ideal candidate:

- Has the ability to analyze complex problems and make sound decisions in a timely manner.
- Possesses knowledge of main purification, sampling methods and pressure testing methods. Knowledge of existing distribution system, contingency water operations, maintenance of water systems and inspection and corrosion prevention is also desirable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of work experience in related functional operations is required.
- Two years of supervisory experience is required.

Annual entry salary: $72,359 - $80,000, depending on qualifications
