Overview
Electric Boat Information Technology (EB IT) is responsible for Electric Boat''s enterprise and special use information systems, such as product design environments, collaboration platforms, and office productivity suites. EB IT supports over 25,000 end-users in a wide variety of work environments, networks and locations. Electric Boat Information Technology is pursuing an Infrastructure Solution Architect to support a multi-year strategy to modernize the company''s IT infrastructure offerings within a robust cybersecurity environment.
The IT Solution Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and guiding technical solutions that enable the business to operate efficiently and securely. This role partners closely with IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable architecture. The architect ensures solutions align with enterprise standards, reduce technical debt, and move the organization toward a modern, well‑structured technology ecosystem.
The responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Architecture & Design
Develop end‑to‑end solution architectures for new applications, integrations, and technical initiatives.
Produce system diagrams, conceptual designs, and technical specifications.
Evaluate whether requirements should be solved via configuration, integration, customization, or out‑of‑the‑box capabilities.
Ensure all designs follow enterprise architecture principles, security requirements, and compliance standards.
Integration & Systems Alignment
Architect integrations between enterprise systems such as ERP, identity platforms, HR systems, monitoring tools, workflow engines, mobile devices, etc.
Ensure integrations follow secure patterns with modern standards, and are resilient, monitored, and well‑documented.
Governance & Standards
Contribute to architecture governance, standards, naming conventions, and reusable design patterns.
Guide teams on maintaining development discipline and minimizing unnecessary customization.
Ensure alignment with regulatory and audit requirements.
Project & Stakeholder Engagement
Work with IT Project Management Office, business owners, engineering teams, and cross-functional groups to shape technical direction.
Provide architectural input during planning, estimation, road mapping, and prioritization activities.
Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
