A Brief Overview
Low Voltage Wiring Technician responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and maintaining structured cabling and low voltage systems throughout the Medical Center. Candidate will be capable of working independently as well as working with the Holy Name infrastructure team while engaging external vendors as needed.
What you will do · Installs, terminates, and dresses copper (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling for · voice, data, and other low voltage systems. · Maintains and repairs existing cabling infrastructure, including horizontal and backbone · cabling. · Tests and certifies newly installed or relocated cables according to industry standards · (TIA/EIA) and company specifications. · Pulls cable through ceilings, walls, conduit, and raceways; installs J-hooks, cable tray, · and supporting pathways. · Installs and terminates patch panels, jacks, faceplates, and fiber enclosures; builds out · racks and cabinets in telecommunications rooms. · Runs cabling for low voltage systems such as wireless access points, security cameras, · access control, nurse call, and paging, as directed. · Troubleshoots and resolves cabling and connectivity issues using testers, toners, and · other diagnostic equipment. · Labels cables, jacks, and panels and maintains accurate cabling records, drawings, and · documentation. · Reads and interprets floor plans, blueprints, and project specifications. · Follows firestopping, infection control (ICRA), and safety procedures when working in · patient care and construction areas. · Performs moves, adds, and changes (MACs) and responds to service requests in a timely · manner. · Coordinates with IT, Facilities, and outside vendors/contractors on cabling projects and · inspects vendor work for quality. · Maintains tools, test equipment, and cabling material inventory. · Performs other related duties as assigned. Education Qualifications
· High School | or equivalent; technical/vocational training in low voltage or structured cabling | required |
Experience Qualifications
· 2-3 years | low voltage / structured cabling experience, healthcare or commercial setting |
