Specialty Pharmacist Position Details
Facility: BayCare Home Care Location: Largo, FL Status: Full-time exempt Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Weekend Work: None On Call: No
Specialty Pharmacist Responsibilities
The Specialty Pharmacist would be expected to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients with complex chronic or rare conditions requiring specialty medications. The role includes:
• Clinical review • Patient counseling • Adherence monitoring • Coordination with prescribers • Ensuring safe and effective medication use
The pharmacist ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards while supporting positive clinical and financial outcomes. Duties may include:
• Review and verify specialty prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and clinical effectiveness • Financial assistance and education • Clinical expertise • Monitor patient progress and manage side effects • Perform follow-up assessments
Certifications and Licensure
Required:
• Pharmacist - State of FL • Bachelors Degree • PharmD preferred • Prior experience in specialty or clinical pharmacy • Knowledge of specialty pharmacy accreditation requirements (URAC and ACHC) • Familiarity with specialty therapeutic areas (e.g., Oncology, neurology, rheumatology, and gastroenterology)
