Where You’ll Fit

You’ll be embedded within Alcon’s Engineering function, partnering closely with Molding Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production to elevate quality, processes, products, packaging, and materials company-wide.

A Day in the Life

Based onsite at our Manufacturing Facility in Houston, TX, you’ll keep high-volume injection molds running at peak performance. Your day will blend precision hands-on work with sharp problem-solving and clear communication:

• Troubleshoot, service, and repair complex molds, including multi-cavity and hot runner systems, to minimize downtime.
• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, and rebuild tooling components to restore capability and extend mold life.
• Machine and fit components with toolroom equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, polishing tools) to tight tolerances.
• Analyze issues such as flash, short shots, and dimensional nonconformance; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Interpret engineering drawings, mold designs, CAD models, and specifications to execute repairs and improvements.
• Run scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) in line with best practices to protect performance and reliability.
• Document work in Maximo (CMMS) to ensure complete records, traceability, and compliance with quality standards.
• Communicate mold condition, status, and root cause findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve tooling-related issues quickly and effectively.
• Proactively spot risks before they become failures and make sound technical decisions within your scope.
• Adhere to GxP requirements by following SOPs, maintaining accurate documentation, exercising rigorous quality control, and completing all training.
• Contribute to organizational compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience repairing injection molds and precision tooling (multi-cavity and hot runner exposure preferred).
• Comfort interpreting drawings, mold designs, and CAD models.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset with a root cause–driven approach.
• Proficiency with precision metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges).
• Familiarity with mold teardown, inspection, fitting, and reassembly.
• Competence with hand and power tools and diagnostic instruments.
• Background in industrial/manufacturing environments—ideally a toolroom or high-precision production setting.
• CMMS experience (Maximo a plus) and basic computer skills.
