You start on the plastic injection floor, reviewing overnight production and the KPIs you’ve standardized across the plant. A spike in scrap on two presses catches your eye—time for a quick root-cause huddle, a fishbone sketch, and a data pull for DOE. By mid-morning, you’re mapping a smoother production flow and scoping a low-cost device to cut changeover minutes. After lunch, you finalize updates to SAP master production data, validate routings, and prepare a crisp deck for the approval committee. You wrap by sizing workforce needs for a new cell and locking in assumptions for the annual investment plan.

What You’ll Own

  • Build and implement robust process standards for the plastic injection manufacturing area.
  • Create, consolidate, and track plant-wide KPI dashboards; pinpoint gaps and partner with teams to develop improvement plans.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities to reduce waste and variability; plan and execute projects to capture those gains.
  • Develop and budget production devices, benches, and material movement solutions to streamline flow.
  • Optimize labor and total cost while designing efficient production layouts and workflows.
  • Implement and monitor productivity initiatives using Lean Manufacturing or other applicable methods.
  • Participate in the critical analysis and formulation of the annual investment plan for operational units.
  • Lead and deliver continuous improvement projects that enhance both manufacturing processes and products.
  • Reduce costs and optimize resources through critical analysis and action planning.
  • Size and quantify workforce needs at operational centers during project analysis.
  • Build and validate master production data; ensure accuracy and integrity within the SAP system.
  • Prepare clear presentations using project tools and present effectively to approval committees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Plastics, or Industrial preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; strong experience with SAP and Power BI.
  • Proven experience with plastic injection molding processes, molds, and machines; hands-on use of DOE, FMEA, and fishbone (Ishikawa) tools.
