22 hours ago Be among the first 25 applicantsDirect message the job poster from UnifiMI IndustrialUnder the guidance of the Chief Innovation Officer, the Senior Product Development Engineer performs tasks to develop innovative products in the industrial fastening industry, including but not limited to: project planning, design, analysis, testing, and documentation. In addition, the Senior Product Development Engineer will be expected to directly communicate with the Product Development Team and/or the Executive Team to effectively accomplish project tasks.Key Roles and Responsibilities:Technical:• Perform moderate to advanced product development tasks with moderate guidance:o Identify design requirements and generate novel fastener engineering solutions for industrial applicationso Produce robust engineering models and drawings using SolidWorkso Collaborate with internal and external simulation partners to develop and optimize fastener designs for specific applicationso Perform engineering analyses such as stress, FEA, basic failure analysis, tolerance stack, material selection and FMEA.o Apply a working knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes to optimize Design for Manufacturabilityo Develop and execute test protocols, interpret results, and publish associated reportso Rapidly work through design iterations to find and validate optimal solutionso Create and maintain design files in accordance with established Product Development Processo Organize and participate, as appropriate, in consultant meetings, industry conferences, and cross-department product development related activitieso Participate in and/or lead design transfer activitieso Perform effective time/project management activitiesLeadership:• Participate in and/or lead project management tasks such as regular planning events, internal and external communications, and resource coordination.• Provide technical and project related direction and instruction to product development team members.• Draw upon external resources for expertise as necessaryCommunication:• Lead effective communication efforts with internal and external stakeholders regarding status, timing, budgetary and design issues impacting the project.• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.• Create and deliver project presentations to internal and external audiencesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe following points outline the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position of Senior Engineer I:• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline and 7 years relevant design experience, OR Master's degree and 5 years experience, OR PhD degree and 3 years experience.• Knowledge of aerospace, automotive, railway or construction fasteners is required.• Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to “do whatever it takes” to find successful solutions is required.• Demonstrated ability to leverage manufacturing process and material knowledge in engineering designs.• Proficient in solid modeling.
