Job Description
We are looking for experienced Inpatient Pharmacists to support the U.S. Army, Brooke Army Medical Center working with military service members and their families.
Salary: Up to $147,680.00 annually on W2
Contract Duration: Five (5) Years
Work Location(s): Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas
Work Schedule: Typically works 12 hours shifts: Sunday through Saturday –
7:00 am – 7:00 pm | 7 days on and 7 days off | rotating day and night shifts | some on call and overtime
Job Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize drug therapy.
- Determines type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standing operating procedures (SOPs).
- Receives and reviews prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
- Performs advanced pharmaceutical calculations in the manufacture of intravenous admixtures and complex parental nutrition solutions dealing with body surface area and creatine clearance rate formulas.
- Obtains the pharmaceutical, prepares package labels, visually inspects the medication in the bottle to be dispensed, and verifies appropriate medication, checks the printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness.
- Reviews and interprets medication orders to inpatients to ensure dosage, route, frequency potential interactions, and allergies have been screened.
- Performs medication distributive functions, including, but not limited to, preparation and/or verification of medications, labeling, compounding, and dispensing.
- Follows established procedures and protocols concerning quality assurance monitoring, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous medications.
- Participates in orientation, instruction and training of pharmacy technicians, residents, pharmacists, and other health professionals.
- May be identified per shift as a Code Responder and will respond to Code Blues during a particular shift.

Qualifications
- Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year of inpatient pharmacy experience within the past two (2) years post-graduation.
- Must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a pharmacist.
- Must have a current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
