Position Overview:
The Applications and Business Support Pharmacist supports the technologies and systems used by pharmacy services. This role bridges clinical pharmacy practice and information technology, leveraging both to optimize operations, enhance patient care, and support departmental operational, clinical, and financial goals.
Applications and Business Support Pharmacist Responsibilities:
Support and maintain pharmacy information systems, including, but not limited to, CPOE, pharmacy order entry, automated dispensing machines, inventory management systems, prepackaging and relabeling systems, electronic databases and formularies, and clinical documentation systems.
Participate in the implementation and optimization of new technologies and pharmacy workflow to improve patient care outcomes, operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
Analyze departmental needs and contribute to the development and enhancement of hardware, software, and system workflow.
Serve as a liaison between pharmacy and other departments, including IT, clinical informatics, nursing, finance, and external technology vendors.
Provide training and guidance for pharmacy and clinical staff to ensure safe, clinically effective, and cost-effective use of pharmacy and clinical applications.
Support billing and revenue management processes
Support controlled substance program management, including anti-diversion efforts.
Participate in hospital and Sutter Health committees as directed.
Assist with downtime procedures and system recovery.
Provide direct pharmacist services as needed, including staffing support during peak periods or absences, and perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range is $103.26 to $118.74 / hour
The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health's comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
