Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Pharmacy Technician in Training!

As a Pharmacy Technician in Training at MercyOne, you will assist in the provision of pharmaceutical care to inpatients and outpatients ranging in age from premature newborns to geriatrics. The inpatient pharmacy technician trainee is involved in the provision of educational and employee services to patients, guests, hospital and medical staff of MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center.

  • Work with and assist pharmacists and nurses with pharmacy related issues for patients and facilitates the implementation of provider orders
  • Perform dispensing functions under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Prepare IV admixtures as well as any other sterile preparation encountered in pharmacy according to departmental policies
  • Make regular deliveries of medications to nursing units
  • Process unit based Pyxis refill reports and promptly delivers / resupplies medications to the nursing units
  • Answer and process incoming phone calls to the department
  • Assist with department inventory procedures and processes
  • Process patient medication charges and credits accurately into pharmacy and/or hospital information system

Schedule:

  • Per Diem (PRN)

General Requirements:

  • Must be 17.5 years of age or older
  • Typing, clerical and science background desirable
  • Registration with Iowa Board of prior to starting employment
  • Pass the test for and maintain national Pharmacy Technician certification as outlined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 1 year of employment
