Carilion New River Valley Medical Center is a regional healthcare facility offering modern diagnostic, medical and surgical services in a customer friendly atmosphere. The hospital has a Level III Trauma Emergency Department that is home to Lifeguard11, Carilion Clinic’s Emergency Air Medical Transport which primarily serves the New River Valley and areas west. There are approximately 200 physicians on the medical staff representing a broad spectrum of both medical and surgical specialties.

Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine are seeking a full time Inpatient Psychiatrist at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Will oversee clinical leadership of a multidisciplinary treatment team providing quality psychiatric care to an acute, adult inpatient population. The typical case load is 10-12 patients daily with an average length of stay of 5-7 days.

The position includes an academic appointment at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Successful completion of accredited residency in Psychiatry

Skilled in interpersonal communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with patients and families.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

The practice opportunity includes inpatient (including ECT), outpatient and medication management. Growing hospital consultation services are provided to patients at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, a 146-bed acute-care medical center with excellent support staff and a medical staff of over 300 physicians representing a broad range of specialists.

Salary Range: $301,875.00 – $450,000.00
