This is sales position. Kinney Engineers, Inc. is seeking an inside/outside salesperson to support and grow our industrial equipment business. This position combines inside sales, customer relationship management, technical quoting, and outside business development.
S.P. Kinney designs and manufactures engineered equipment for industrial and municipal applications. Our sales process is highly technical and often requires working directly with engineers, contractors, plant personnel, purchasing departments, and end users to develop the correct solution for each application.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with technical information, organized, and capable of developing long-term customer relationships. Previous industrial sales experience is preferred, but we are also interested in candidates with a strong mechanical or technical background who have the personality and motivation to succeed in sales.
Responsibilities
Develop new sales opportunities within industrial, municipal, engineering, and contractor markets.
Maintain and grow relationships with existing S.P. Kinney customers.
Contact prospective customers through phone, email, in-person visits, industry contacts, and other business-development efforts.
Travel to customer facilities, engineering firms, contractors, and project sites as required.
Review customer inquiries, specifications, drawings, and application requirements.
Work with S.P. Kinney engineering and manufacturing personnel to determine appropriate equipment and technical solutions.
Prepare and follow up on quotations, proposals, and budgetary pricing.
Track open quotations and actively follow up with customers to move opportunities toward an order.
Assist customers with equipment selection, replacement equipment, spare parts, and aftermarket needs.
Develop an understanding of S.P. Kinney products, applications, manufacturing capabilities, and competitive advantages.
Maintain accurate records of customer contacts, quotations, projects, and sales opportunities.
Coordinate internally with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and management throughout the sales process.
Attend customer meetings, site visits, trade shows, and industry events when appropriate.
Identify new customers, markets, representatives, and opportunities for S.P. Kinney products.
Maintain communication with customers after an order is received to help support long-term relationships and future business.

He was a member of many engineering associations, and through the years he was the recipient of many awards for his contributions to the iron and steel industries and his extensive experimental studies with the U.S. Bureau of Mines.
In 1976, his son Rol Frank Kinney took over the company. By this time S.P. Kinney was still heavily involved with the steel industry, but it was branching out into other industries with our water filtration lines. Craig Selwyne Kinney took over the company in 2001, and he has been running it ever since.
Today our focus is on making quality American-Made blast furnace equipment for steel mills around the world and water filtration equipment for any and all industries incorporating raw water or recirculating water in their facilities.
