Inside Plant Fiber Optic Splicer / Cable Puller
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our team in the role of Inside Plant Fiber Optic Splicer / Cable Puller. This full-time position involves working on commercial, telecommunications, and low-voltage infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey and nearby regions. The job is field-based, requiring work at various commercial and telecom project sites.
Role Overview
The Inside Plant Fiber Optic Splicer / Cable Puller will focus on inside plant fiber installation, cable pulling, and structured cabling support. Key responsibilities include fiber splicing, testing, and telecom infrastructure work within commercial and industrial environments. Experience with EMT conduit installation, telecom construction, or bucket truck operation is highly desirable for the Inside Plant Fiber Optic Splicer / Cable Puller role.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull, route, secure, and organize fiber optic and low-voltage cabling in commercial and telecom environments.
- Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing in inside plant environments as an Inside Plant Fiber Optic Splicer / Cable Puller.
- Interpret prints, splice diagrams, and work orders.
- Install cable trays, innerduct, J-hooks, and other cable support systems.
- Assist with pathway preparation, including EMT conduit installation and basic conduit bending.
- Operate and work safely from bucket trucks for aerial fiber projects.
- Support aerial crews with cable placement, lashing, and telecom construction activities.
- Conduct OTDR and power meter testing as needed.
- Label, document, and maintain accurate installation records.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean working condition.
- Adhere to OSHA and company safety procedures at all times.
- Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, and field teams for efficient project completion.
- Work in ceilings, telecom rooms, MDF/IDF environments, and occasional confined spaces.
Qualifications
- Experience with fiber optic cable pulling and fiber splicing is preferred for the Inside Plant Fiber Optic Splicer / Cable Puller position.
- Knowledge of inside plant telecommunications infrastructure.
- Proficiency with hand tools, drills, fish tape, ladders, and testing equipment.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
- OSHA certifications are a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Fusion splicing and OTDR testing.
- Structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6).
- EMT conduit bending and installation.
- Bucket truck operation.
- Telecom construction or low-voltage installation experience.
- CDL license is a plus.
