Quality Specialist

Location: Detroit, MI
Schedule: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $28 - 32/hour (Based on Experience)

Join Our Client as a Quality Specialist!

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Specialist to join their manufacturing team in Detroit, MI. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on the production floor, solving quality issues, and ensuring products consistently meet customer and company standards. You will play a key role in inspecting products throughout the manufacturing process, supporting ISO quality systems, and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

Product Inspection & Quality Control
  • Perform incoming, first article, in-process, and final product inspections.
  • Verify products meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, profilometers, gauges, and tape measures.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Issue and manage Nonconformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Maintain product traceability and quality documentation.
  • Assist with internal audits and process verification activities.
Manufacturing Support
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Operations to quickly resolve quality concerns.
  • Recommend process improvements that reduce defects and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support standardized work instructions and quality procedures.
  • Assist with training employees on inspection methods and quality standards.
Shipping & Customer Quality
  • Perform outbound dock audits prior to shipment.
  • Verify packaging, labeling, dimensions, quantities, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Assist with investigations related to customer complaints and returned materials.
  • Help ensure every product shipped meets the highest quality standards.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing quality experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related inspection tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree.
  • Experience in metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing.
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management System experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement experience.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Blueprint interpretation.
  • Precision measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to safely work throughout a manufacturing environment.
