Position Summary

The Inside Sales Representative provides day-to-day sales support and customer service for assigned customer accounts. Working closely with one or more Account Managers, this role is responsible for processing customer orders, preparing quotations, communicating order status, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure outstanding customer experience. This role is also expected to build relationships with key suppliers.

The Inside Sales Representative serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day customer inquiries and order management while supporting the Account Manager in delivering exceptional service and growing customer relationships. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to develop a solid understanding of company products and customer applications.

Essential Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales Support

  • Serve as the primary contact for day-to-day customer inquiries, order management, and account support for assigned customers.
  • Partner with assigned Account Managers to provide responsive service and ensure customer needs are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare quotations for customers and generate quotations.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding quotations, order status, delivery schedules, and issue resolution.
  • Escalate commercial opportunities and strategic account matters to the appropriate Account Manager.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and suppliers through responsiveness, accuracy, and dependable execution.

Order Management

  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently within the ERP system.
  • Review customer purchase orders for accuracy, pricing, and completeness.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Warehouse, and Operations to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor open orders and proactively communicate delivery commitments and changes to customers, Account Manager and management as needed.
  • Purchase selected direct materials or drop-ship items, as needed, to support customer orders.
  • Maintain accurate customer and order records within the ERP system.

Product Knowledge & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop a working knowledge of products, supplier offerings, and applications.
  • Utilize product knowledge to assist customers with product selection and recommend alternatives when appropriate.
  • Participate in product and systems training to enhance customer support capabilities.
  • Contribute ideas to improve customer service, order management, and commercial processes.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in inside sales, customer service, order management, or sales support within an industrial distribution or technical products environment.
  • Experience in industrial distribution, engineered products, fluid handling, or process equipment preferred.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to learn product applications and specifications.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and printers.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands are typical of an office environment including typing, concentrating, sitting for long periods of time, and the associated challenges of meeting customer requirements and deadlines.
