Position Summary



The Inside Sales & Planning Manager leads customer service, order management, demand forecasting, and inside sales operations for a growing manufacturing organization. This role serves as the key link between customers, sales, production, supply chain, and finance to ensure exceptional customer service, accurate planning, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, operational planning, and customer relationship management skills to drive revenue growth and operational excellence.


Qualifications



Required




+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Communications, or related field.

+ 5+ years of experience in inside sales, customer service leadership, sales operations, or planning within a manufacturing environment.

+ Experience with forecasting, order management, and cross-functional coordination.

+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

+ Proficiency with ERP/MRP/CRM systems and Microsoft Excel.

+ Leadership experience managing teams and performance.


Preferred




+ CPIM, CSCP, APICS, or similar certification.

+ Experience with demand planning, inventory management, and capacity planning.

+ Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge.

+ Experience in discrete manufacturing environments.


Key Responsibilities



Sales & Customer Management




+ Lead and develop the Inside Sales team to support customer growth and retention.

+ Oversee quotations, order entry, fulfillment, and post-sale support.

+ Establish customer service standards, escalation procedures, and response times.

+ Manage RMA activity and maintain strong customer relationships.

+ Monitor open quotes and ensure timely pricing and lead-time feedback.


Planning & Operations Coordination




+ Align customer demand with production capacity and material availability.

+ Manage forecasting, backlog review, and order prioritization.

+ Identify capacity constraints and proactively communicate delivery impacts.

+ Support long-range demand forecasting and business planning.


Cross-Functional Leadership




+ Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Logistics, Quality, and Finance teams.

+ Serve as the primary customer liaison for order status, changes, and issue resolution.

+ Communicate the Voice of the Customer throughout the organization.


Performance & Continuous Improvement




+ Track KPIs including OTIF, forecast accuracy, order cycle time, backlog, and customer satisfaction.

+ Lead initiatives that improve service levels, delivery performance, and operational efficiency.

+ Develop supplier scorecards and drive performance improvements.


Systems & Team Development




+ Ensure effective use of ERP and CRM systems for data accuracy and reporting.

+ Recruit, train, and mentor team members.

+ Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.


Success Metrics




+ Revenue growth and quote conversion rates

+ On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery

+ Forecast accuracy and backlog management

+ Customer satisfaction (CSAT/NPS)

+ Team productivity and service performance

+ Operational efficiency improvements


Physical Requirements




+ Ability to sit, stand, walk, and work at a computer for extended periods.

+ Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

+ Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
