Heavy Duty Commercial Technician Responsibilities:



+ Review repair orders, work orders, and notes to fully understand required repairs prior to starting work.




+ Perform PreDelivery Inspections (PDI) to ensure vehicles meet quality and safety requirements before returning to service.




+ Conduct Red DOT safety inspections to verify compliance with DOT safety standards.


+ Assist with CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) vehicle inspections, systems check, and related repair processes as required.


+ Perform inspection, diagnosis, and replacement of fan clutches/hubs Inspect fifth wheel, perform DOT-compliant brake inspections.




+ Use OEM software/tools (e.g., Cummins INSITE, Detroit DDDL, Bendix ACom, WABCO Toolbox, Eaton) to run tests, calibrations, and updates.




+ Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.


+ Perform a final quality inspection and review the completed work order before the vehicle moves to the detailing department.


+ Gain and maintain knowledge of manufacturer repair procedures, technical processes, and OEM specifications






Preferred Experience



+ Knowledge of OEM repair methods and industry-standard repair practices




+ CNG inspection or repair experience preferred


+ Ability to perform PDI processes and Red DOT safety inspections






Basic Qualifications:



+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED)


+ 5 years experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility


+ Valid driver license


+ Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, &/or ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded
