Job Title: Inspector

Job Description

This role focuses on performing inspection activities on a construction job site while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. The inspector ensures equipment is in reliable working condition, assists project leadership, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Practice safety in every task by estimating weights and distances accurately, staying fully aware of surroundings, and proactively minimizing hazards.
  • Report any injuries, incidents, or damage immediately in accordance with site procedures.
  • Begin each workday by inspecting tires, controls, fuel, and fluids to confirm equipment is in reliable operating condition.
  • Participate in daily meetings with supervisors and staff to review plans, expectations, and safety topics.
  • Maintain constant communication with supervisors and coworkers throughout the work period to support coordinated and safe operations.
  • Store and clean machinery at its designated location at the end of each workday to ensure readiness and longevity.
  • Follow all job site safety procedures and comply with established safety policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe and clean job site by properly handling materials and storing them in designated areas.
  • Pick up and remove tools, equipment, and debris when not in use, and secure the job site at the end of each day.
  • Assist Engineers and/or the Superintendent with inspection-related tasks and general site activities as needed.
  • Operate laser guidance equipment as part of inspection and construction support duties.
  • Perform general labor tasks related to inspection and quality assurance in a construction environment.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of inspection experience.
  • Experience working in a construction environment.
  • Ability to perform quality assurance tasks and follow established procedures.
  • Capability to estimate weights and distances accurately to support safe operations.
  • Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to identifying and minimizing hazards.
  • Ability to operate laser guidance equipment or willingness to learn with appropriate training.
  • Basic general labor skills applicable to construction and inspection work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain ongoing coordination with supervisors and team members.
  • Reliability in following safety procedures and reporting incidents promptly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Engineers or a Superintendent on construction or inspection projects.
  • Familiarity with equipment inspections, including tires, controls, fuel, and fluid checks.
  • Experience maintaining organized, clean, and secure job sites.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability for equipment care and site safety.
  • Comfort working in a structured environment with daily meetings and clear procedures.

Work Environment

This position is based on an active construction job site where safety, communication, and organization are critical. The role involves working around heavy equipment and machinery, performing daily inspections, and operating tools such as laser guidance equipment. You can expect a hands-on environment that requires physical activity, general labor tasks, and consistent adherence to safety procedures. Workdays typically begin with equipment checks and safety meetings, and end with cleaning, storing machinery, and securing the site. The setting may involve varying weather conditions, noise from construction activities, and the need for appropriate workwear suitable for a construction environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bismarck, ND.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $38.00/hr.
