The Inspector I is responsible for ensuring products meet established quality standards by performing first-piece, in-process, and final product inspections. This position will accurately measure and document inspection results, identify nonconforming or suspect product, and communicate quality concerns to the appropriate Quality and Production personnel.Essential Job FunctionsPerform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections in accordance with process sheets, work instructions, production travelers, specifications, and training requirements.Utilize a variety of hand tools and inspection equipment, including calipers, snap gauges, height gauges, Go/No-Go gauges, and other precision measuring devices.Verify that products meet documented specifications and quality requirements.Identify and communicate nonconforming or suspect product to Quality and/or Production Supervisors.Accurately document inspection and measurement results through handwritten records and computer-based inspection reports and logs.Monitor production quality and notify Quality and Production Supervisors when jobs experience elevated scrap rates.Follow all requirements of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring tools, measuring equipment, parts, paperwork, and other materials are stored properly.Work collaboratively with other functional areas as needed to support business and production requirements.Comply with all corporate and site policies, procedures, and quality standards.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Previous manufacturing or quality inspection experience preferred.Experience using basic measuring and inspection equipment is a plus.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesMust be at least 18 years of age.Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Ability to work independently while contributing to overall team and department success.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical activities for extended periods.Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise.Ability to lift, pull, and/or push up to 35 pounds.Ability and willingness to work overtime based on business needs.Ability to work safely around chemicals while following applicable Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements, including exposure to alcohol, acids, and bases.Ability to differentiate between colors as required for inspection activities.Safety RequirementsReport all safety concerns, hazards, and hygiene concerns to the appropriate supervisor.Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses/goggles, earplugs, and safety shoes.Follow all company and site safety policies, procedures, and requirements.Understand and comply with applicable safety protocols and procedures.Proactively recommend safety improvements to supervisors or safety committee members.
