Job Summary:
The Installer II is a mid-level position in the telecommunications industry, responsible for executing field activities related to installation, maintenance, and servicing of telecommunications equipment. This role operates under supervision, primarily handling less complex products, while receiving guidance on more complex issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Understands and uses established safety practices.
Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintains quality awareness and implements quality control processes.
Perform cable installation, termination, labeling, and lacing, adhering to industry standards.
Properly test and troubleshoot fiber/copper installations.
Lead verification/continuity testing.
Mount racks, frames, and shelves, ensuring all equipment is securely and correctly installed.
Addition or removal of wiring and connections (on non-working equipment only and switchboard cable only).
Addition or removal of non-powered equipment/hardware.
Successfully interpret drawings, plans, and specifications.
Interpret the job plan and scope of work, as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure.
Reads and stays current on installation documentation.
Discuss media selection and implications for implementation on the network.
Make recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
Conducts work assignments, communicates, dresses, and assists customer in a professional manner.
Inventory all job-related materials.
May provide training to less experienced Installers when requested or required.
May perform the duties of a Level III or Level IV Installer when directly supervised by properly qualified personnel.
Supports continuous improvement by following established processes, identifying inefficiencies or issues, and contributing to solutions that improve safety, quality, and productivity. Leverages available tools and technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, where appropriate to improve efficiency and streamline work.
