About Commercial

SUMMARYÂ

The Institutional Account Manager is responsible for maximizing sales of BioMarin commercialized products in their area. They must maintain a high level of disease education and awareness to find potential patients and to start therapy when applicable. Good organizational, analytical, problem solving, and customer management skills are required. Demonstrated ability to gain the cooperation of others by utilizing excellent communication and collaboration skills are required.  Focus on coordination of care with excellent follow-up essential. Individual must be flexible and adaptable to new situations with sensitivity to the potential constraints of a growing and expanding commercial organization. Must be goal oriented and know how to set aggressive but achievable targets.  Instills a high standard of performance in the organization.Â

RESPONSIBILITIESÂ

  • Achieve territory sales goals, market penetration, market share, and profit targets on a quarterly & annual basis.Â
  • Create and implement an effective business plan to guide strategy, disease awareness, patient find, patient adherence, and track progress throughout the year for community-based HCPâ€s.Â
  • Create and implement individual institutional plans to create, implement, and drive opportunities within specific hospital systems.Â
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all key customers and institutions including, but not limited to: Neurologists, Pediatric Neurologists, Epileptologist, Geneticists, Pediatric Orthopedists, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Genetic Counselors and any other physicians and staff deemed appropriate. Â
  • Proficient communication with external customers and internal stakeholders both in person as well as via internet-based platforms.Â
  • Provide leadership through example to fellow Institutional Account Manager.Â
  • Financially manage assigned territory.Â
  • Actively participate in business planning meetings, disease awareness efforts, professional society meetings, and advocacy meetings as assigned.Â
  • Become an expert in â€the findâ€.  Demonstrate proficiency with CLN2 and MPS data and be able to verbalize its significance to key stakeholders within the community and institutions.Â
  • Provide field insight to internal business partners as to the clinical practices of assigned accounts.Â
  • Demonstrate leadership within internal teams, with ability to influence without authority.Â
  • Act in compliance and adhere to all company policies assigned to the Institutional Account Manager.Â

SCOPEÂ

  • Ability to manage a multi-state territory with diverse customer base.Â

TRAVELÂ

  • Overnight travel is required and will range from 50-75 % depending on the geography and business needs of the individual territory.Â

REMOTE SELLINGÂ

  • Remote/virtual selling is required where appropriate. Candidates must possess the ability to communicate with customers through internet-based meeting platforms.  Virtual selling activities include clinic meetings, internal account team calls and patient education meetings.Â

EDUCATIONÂ

  • Bachelorâ€s degree required.Â
  • Advanced educational degree or experience in the Healthcare field desired.Â

EXPERIENCEÂ

  • Required minimums:Â
  • 5-7 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industries.Â
  • 3-5 years of experience in biotech/specialty sales involving high-cost products.Â

Highly desired:Â

  • Extensive knowledge and Sales experience within hospitals and academic institutions with KOLâ€s and C-Suite.Â
  • Prior work with orphan/rare-disease products.Â
  • Experience with â€the find†for patients, â€hunter mentalityâ€Â
  • Experience in new product launches.Â

This is a remote position.  Territory:  California, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, and IdahoÂ

The salary range for this position is: $146,900 to $201960. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
